Renowned photojournalist, and former Chief White House photographer for President Obama, Pete Souza joins the show to talk about his journey from a shy and somewhat socially awkward kid growing up in Dartmouth, MA with a passion for sports and a dream of one day writing about that passion, to becoming one of the most well known photographers in the country with 8 years of behind the scenes access and beautiful documentary work of the President of the United States.  During our conversation Pete talks about falling in love with photography during his junior year of college at BU and how that would end up shaping the rest of his life.  We move through his years in Kansas working for a small town paper, to his time at the Chicago Sun Times, to getting the call to work for Ronald Reagan, to covering the war in Afghanistan, to finally stepping into the position with Barak Obama that would make him a household name.  We also talk about the new documentary about his career called "The Way I See It' and the advice he gives to all those out there dreaming of one day documenting history as well.

Director and photographer Brantley Gutierrez joins the podcast to talk about his journey from a kid growing up in Virginia with a love of movies and skateboarding, to chasing his dreams across the country and finally ending up in LA shooting for some of the biggest musicians in the world and forming long lasting relationships with the likes of Paul McCartney and U2.  It's an incredible story that involves a little luck and a lot of perseverance and has led to an amazing body of work including music videos, full length films, commercial direction, photographing for everyone from Rolling Stone to corporate campaigns, and continues to evolve and grow.  During our conversation Brantley tells me about an accidental encounter with Dave Grohl that would alter the course of his career, what it's like being on tour with U2, how he made the switch into directing motion capture and how that continues to evolve, and the advice he gives to those chasing their own creative dreams.

On this episode of the show I'm joined by well known commercial, celebrity, and fine art photographer Brian Bowen Smith to talk about his newest coffee table book and amazing quarantine inspired cross country adventure called "DriveBys" where he traveled around in his vintage F150 and took beautiful black and white scenics and portraits of people from all walks of life through the window of his truck.  We also talk about his challenging upbringing in Syracuse, and how he went from what he called a dirt bag punk kid, to one of the top collegiate gymnastic athletes, to an inspiring actor living in New York, to a professional rollerblader in LA, to working closely with legendary photographer Herb Ritts, and finally to creating the amazing photography career that most know him for today.  It's an amazing journey and story, and during our conversation we talk about the role of luck and where hard work comes in, how he managed to get his foot in the door of the very competitive world of celebrity work, how he constantly tries to grow and evolve as a photographer and stay competitive, what inspired him to create his newest personal project, and so much more.
