To celebrate another collective lap around the sun and hopefully manifest some positivity for 2023, I'm joined by my friend and fellow podcaster/photographer Alex Gagne from the Photo Banter Podcast to talk about some of the highs and lows of 2022 and what we are planning for the next year moving forward.  During our conversation we talk about the creative inspiration and motivation we both receive from the community we have built online, what some of our highlights of 2022 were from the podcast world as well as our photography careers, some of the mistakes we made and how we have learned from those failures, and some words of hope and encouragement for the new year.  So whether you are staying home and avoiding the drunken crowds, or just waking up to a brand new year, make sure to tune in.

Celebrity portrait, editorial, commercial, and fashion photographer/director Victoria Will joins the podcast to talk about how she went from growing up in DC with an obsession for field hockey and a desire to pursue an athletic career, to studying at Princeton and falling in love with photography, to working at the New York Post, to finally heading out on her own and slowly creating the body of work she is known for today, with recognizable images of everyone from Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, to working with fashion designers like Tom Ford, to shooting and directing ad campaigns for some of the biggest companies in the world.  During our conversation we talk about the struggle to find balance between work and her growing family of 3 young boys and her husband who is also a photographer, and how managing that balance has taught her to truly be present and to appreciate the beauty of her career and how she can split her love between family and art and find meaning and inspiration from both.  We also talk about how she has managed to drift between so many different genres of shooting and how that has helped her to constantly push her creative limits and to fight off burnout by always being able to draw inspiration from other forms of shooting and work.  Lastly, we talk about how our definitions of "success" have changed over the years, where she continues to draw the most creative inspiration, and the advice she gives to others trying to find their own creative path.

On this episode of the podcast I'm joined by photographer and creative evangelist for Blurb Inc. Daniel Milnor to talk about his journey from photojournalist, to magazine editorial photographer, to Kodak employee, to wedding photographer, to the public face and well spoken voice of Blurb Books where he has been for many years while continuing to pursue his own personal long-term projects, as well as work on his YouTube channel and blog at Shifter Media.  During our conversation Daniel talks about what it was like growing up in rural America and how feeling like an outsider would end up leading him to the world of photojournalism and the life long search of finding his true creative voice and what he actually wanted to say with it.  We also talk about all the changes he's seen in the photography industry through his many different incarnations as a creative, how he thinks the world of social media is homogenizing the photography space and preventing some very talented shooters from pursuing what could actually set them apart as memorable photographers and filmmakers, what gives him hope as he looks towards the future of visual creation, and the advice he gives to others trying to find their own voice as artists and as human beings.

Commercial photographer/director Jon Enoch joins the podcast from his London studio to talk about how deciding to enter a competition to travel the world while he was still in college would completely change the course of his life, and take a kid from a small rural town in the UK studying geography and set him out on a journey that would introduce photography and visual storytelling to his life and give him a sense of purpose he never knew existed.  During our conversation Jon talks about his three different phases of his photography career thus far.  From his early days of the hustle and bustle of working as a photojournalists for a respected London newspaper, to making the shift towards magazine editorial work, to slowly transitioning into the career he's known for now, helping to visualize and shoot advertising campaigns for some of the biggest companies in the  world.  We also discuss how a decision to pursue a personal project in Hanoi would end up bringing him a whole other level of recognition and success and provide him with the creative fulfillment he was missing in the commercial space, how he stays organized and motivated to keep creating, where he draws the most inspiration, and the advice he gives to others.

Renowned fine art and commercial photographer/director Tim Tadder joins the podcast to talk about his journey in photography and how he went from building an extremely successful commercial studio to finding himself disillusioned with the industry and work, and his subsequent transition into the fine art world as well as NFT space. During our conversation Tim talks about what it was like growing up in Baltimore as the son of a professional photographer who wanted something more for his son than a life in the arts, and how that ultimately helped developed a work ethic and drive that would propel Tim into the world of commercial photography and help him create not only a name for himself, but a look that would be copied by many. We also talk about how he's recently reevaluated his goals and desires in life and realized that he lost track of what made him fall in love with photography in the first place, and how he's been able to make the transition into creating meaningful art that finds it's way onto the walls of art collectors and investors alike.
