Adventure and documentary filmmaker Roo Smith joins the podcast to talk about his new series "The Goat Surf Club" shot with Outside Magazine, and how a kid growing up in Orcas Island with dreams of one day becoming a diplomat would end up taking a political science degree and turning it into a creative career as a filmmaker right out of college, working on everything from Netflix shows to his own personal projects. During our conversation Roo and I talk about how he used his free time in college to create a visual portfolio, what young shooters can learn from veterans and vice versa, how he went about pitching a personal project to Outside Magazine, the positive power of telling uplifting stories, his goals of finding balance between his work life and personal life, how he's trying to set himself up for longevity, why he chose Boulder, CO as his new home, and the advice he gives to others chasing their own creative dreams.

Renowned architectural photographer Ema Peter joins the podcast to talk about her journey from growing up in Bulgaria as the daughter of filmmakers who wanted more for her than a life in the arts, to working as an intern at Magnum and finding a passion for photojournalism and conflict photography, to falling in love with architecture after being introduced to the work of Le Corbusier by her uncle, to becoming the head of photography for VRX Studios, to finally stepping out on her own and establishing herself as one of the top international architectural photographers on the scene, working with some of the biggest firms in the world and creating a unique style she likes to call architectural photojournalism. During our conversation Ema talks about the patience that is needed to create a long lasting career in the competitive world of photography, why we need to respect the life and energy of architecture just like we would any other subject, what "balance" means to her in her busy career, and the advice she gives to others chasing their own creative dreams.

Celebrity portrait and hospitality photographer Josh Telles joins the podcast to talk about how he went from a valley kid growing up in the shadow of Hollywood with no real direction on what he wanted to do when he got older, to taking portraits of some of the biggest named celebrities in the world, all because of stumbling into the right community college photo class and having the drive to chase down what he realized was his new dream. During our conversation Josh talks about how a chance run in with well known LA photographer Johnny Tergo would end up leading to an internship with celebrity photographer Art Streiber and help Josh to find his voice as an artist and get him in the door of the very competitive world of celebrity portraiture. We also discuss the balance of shooting portrait work and food and hospitality and how his desire to do both gave him issues with finding an agent but helped him financially and creatively diversify himself, what it's like shooting celebrities like George Clooney and the challenges you are sometimes faced with trying to achieve your vision, and the advice he gives to others coming up in the world of photography.
