Conservation photographer and National Geographic Explorer Carlton Ward joins the podcast to talk about his beautiful new book and film "Path Of The Panther" that sheds light on his countless years of work to inspire a public and political movement to save the Florida Wildlife Corridor through the story of the endangered Florida panther. During our conversation Carlton talks about his journey growing up as an 8th generation Floridian and an early love of nature through surfing and spending time on his family ranch that would instill a passion for protecting the environment. After graduating college, he would end up working as a photographer for the Smithsonian in Gabon and Mali, but each time he returned home he realized that the environmental story that was most important to him was in his own backyard. Carlton also talks about what it means to be a conservation photographer, and the long arduous process that can be involved in trying to tell the stories that need to be told, what goes into to capturing an elusive creature like the Florida panther, the time he had to check himself into the ER with alligator bites, and the advice he gives to those who desire to tell stories that matter.
